Pet-Friendly Things To Do In Paterson, New Jersey

Paterson Public Library

The Paterson Public Library has a small garden located in the rear of the building. Dogs on leashes are allowed to use this area as long as their guardian maintains control and cleans up after them.

Paterson Dog Park

The first thing to do is enjoy a beautiful day at the dog park! Paterson Dog Park, located on  Lawrence St, has an open field to run around in and also features water fountains and easy-to-clean surfaces. The park is typically open from sunrise until one hour after sunset (except when it’s raining). It is open to everyone, dog owners and visitors alike. Your pup’s vaccinations will need to be up to date, but it’s well worth it!

Rotary Park

The second thing you can do is walk through the beautiful Rotary Park (located on Market Street in downtown Paterson). This park features a walking path around the circumference, picnic tables for you to sit at, areas with water fountains that your dog can drink from and easy-to-clean surfaces. The park also has two pavilions that are available for rental; if renting one of them, they must remain completely pet-friendly. This park is open every day except Monday when the regular operating hours are sunrise until one hour after sunset (except when it’s raining).

Dog-Friendly Restaurants

The third thing you can do is visit one of the many dog-friendly restaurants around Paterson. Delizioso Grille & Restaurant, located on Mill Street downtown, has a patio where your pup can sit with you, so long as he behaves well! Coney Island Hot Dogs also has a patio where your furry friend can join you for dinner; the waitstaff will even bring fresh water to your table for both of you to enjoy. And if it happens to be National Hot Dog Day (July 18th!), then head over to Frank’s Hot Dogs (also on Market Street) to get yourself and your pup a hot dog at their outdoor picnic table!

Take your dog for a walk in one of the many dog parks located throughout Paterson. Dog parks allow off-leash play in grassy areas, which can curb destructive behavior at home

Most places around Paterson are pet-friendly, but please remember and please remember that dogs should always be on a leash
